Behind the Scenes During Chaos on the Convention Floor

Anyone watching a live stream of Day One at the Republican National Convention might have been confused when the screen went black. Time magazine said "bedlam erupted" and the feed went dark when conservative members of the "Never Trump" movement tried to force a roll call vote on the rules. The protestors wanted a change in rules that bind delegates to a certain candidate after the state primary; in effect, they wanted to be able to unbind themselves from Donald Trump.

Ballot Brief Digital Producer Albert Sabaté was on the Convention floor with his camera rolling when their attempts were turned back on a voice vote instead of the roll call vote they were seeking . We're showing you his raw, mostly unedited footage from the thick of things, among Virginia delegates who left no doubt which side they were on.
