Dense fog in L.A. Grounds Helicopters Carrying Ballots, May Delay Count

The inclement weather this election season has become a larger problem than anyone would expect. On the East Coast this election day, voters enduredfreezing temperatures and tolerated casting ballots in makeshift polling places in the wake of Hurricane Sandy -- all this amid evacuation orders in preparation for yet another storm.

Locally, a dense fog advisory along the Southern California coast has prompted helicopters carrying voted ballots to be grounded at a mall in the City of Industry. The helicopters were transporting the ballots to Norwalk, headquarters of the the L.A. County Registrar/Recorder and County Clerk. Though the count may be delayed, L.A. County Clerk Dean Logan said, "It is important that we get all of the ballots here to the Norwalk office safely and securely. We are working with the Los Angeles County Sherriff's Department to ensure the safe arrival of the ballots."
