L.A. Mayor to Work Obama Campaign in Florida

In the final days before Tuesday's presidential election, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa will be campaigning in Florida in an effort to re-elect President Barack Obama over rival Mitt Romney.

The mayor -- national co-chair of Obama's campaign -- will fly to Tampa on Sunday, where he will visit field offices and rally campaign workers.

He'll travel to Miami on Monday to do the same.

He also is scheduled to be interviewed Monday on MSNBC with Andrea Mitchell and on CNN with Brooke Baldwin.

Florida is a crucial battleground state important to both candidates.

The mayor will return to Los Angeles Monday night in order to vote on Tuesday.

Then he'll turn around and fly to Chicago to watch election results roll in at Obama's campaign headquarters.

Villaraigosa has been a high-profile surrogate for the Obama campaign on the issues of immigration and education. The mayor has campaigned for Obama in Nevada, New Mexico, North Carolina, Colorado, Iowa, Wisconsin, Florida and Texas.

He chaired the Democratic National Convention and attended the first two presidential debates, where he did spin for the campaign.
