U.S. Senate Debate between Kamala Harris and Loretta Sanchez
Rep. Loretta Sanchez, D-Garden Grove, and California Attorney General Kamala Harris will participate in a U.S. Senate candidate debate on Wed., Oct. 5 on the campus of Cal State Los Angeles.
The candidates are running to replace Sen. Barbara Boxer, who decided to retire this year after 24-years in office. Both Harris and Sanchez are Democrats; they finished in the top two spots in the state primary so they both made it into the general election.
She earned her law degree at Hastings and served two terms as San Francisco's District Attorney,
Sanchez was born in Lynwood and earned her B.A. at Chapman and an MBA from American University. She has represented California in Congress since 1996. According to her website,
This is the only one-on-one debate scheduled in this race. It begins at 7:00 pm and is scheduled to last for two-hours. Questions will be asked by a three-person panel representing the sponsoring organizations, with ABC7 Eyewitness News Anchor Marc Brown serving as moderator.
The debate sponsors are The Pat Brown Institute for Public Affairs & Cal State LA; The League of Women Voters of California; and ABC7 Los Angeles.
