Voter Turnout in L.A. County Increases, Finds Preliminary Sample
If predictions of a historic low in California's voter turnout comes true today, then L.A. County might be bucking the trend. As of 4:00 p.m., there's been a 17.54 percent turnout, according to a preliminary hourly voting sample from Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk Dean Logan. That's more than 3 percent at the same time during the 2010 Primary Election.
[Update: As of 5:00 p.m., it was up to 19.59 percent, according to a tweet from the office]
The numbers are based off sampling from 30 of the over 4,700 precincts in the county. "Turnout in certain districts or areas of the County can fluctuate, so caution is encouraged in using these figures as a statistical prediction of voter turnout," warned a press release from the Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk's office.
