What Does the California Secretary of State do?


The California Secretary of State has many essential responsibilities that most people aren’t probably aware of. The office oversees everything from business filings to preserving valuable historical documents. But the biggest obligation the California Secretary of State has is running state and federal elections. From ballots to tracking financial expenditures for candidates, the California Secretary of State is the one making sure there are free, fair and open elections in our state.
