Trees are a remarkable counter force to the heat emitted from our concrete buildings and paved streets. They also clean our air and beautify our neighborhoods. Here you'll find a collection of stories that introduce you to interesting people working to increase our tree canopies, dig into the science of tree canopies, explore the disparities between communities and provide practical resources for you to get your hands dirty planting trees. On April 23, 2016, members of the SoCal Connected team helped City Plants and the U.S. Forest Service plant trees in Woodley Park in Van Nuys as part of a larger 20-year study to find out what types of trees survive best in Southern California.
