Cinco de Mayo
Cinco de Mayo is here once again. Want to take part in the festivities but also impress your friends with your knowledge of this holiday? Here at Pixeltown, we've got you covered.
Cinco de Mayo is NOT Mexico's Independence day. It is a celebration that commemorates the defeat of the French in the Battle of Puebla, no small feat when you consider the fact that Mexico's army was outnumbered two to one and that the French had been undefeated for 50 years. It is also a holiday that is not really celebrated in Mexico, except in Puebla. In the U.S., Cinco de Mayo is celebrated by immigrants with a nostalgic and patriotic feeling for home, and those who are appreciative of the cultural exchange with our neighbors to the south. It is a holiday that everyone is invited to celebrate.
Now that you can impress you friends, its time for you to impress us! Upload the fotos of your celebracion in our Cinco de Mayo Flickr pool. We want to know what L.A. does to celebrate.
