It came to me like a bolt of lightening thrown by Zeus from Mt.Olympus. First to what turned on the Big Idea light bulb, Consumer Reports posted an article about the reception problems of the new iPhone 4G.

Consumer Reports had run tests to confirm that there is a problem with the iPhone 4's reception and posted the results that they do not recommend buying the device. Touching an antennae gap on the lower left side depletes the signal, you can cover it with duct tape or buy a case (its like having a bandaid on your glasses, totally completes the Nerd Look). Or you can buy the 3G at Walmart and save $100). The report runs contrary to Apple reporting that it was a software bug and will be fixed in the near future. Or another fix is to buy a case, another expense.

As I was reading the report , my television was not receiving the signal from channel four, so I adjusted the bunny ears and finally got a fuzzy image of the View. Then it hit me. Bunny ears for the iPhone. My previous invention, the hand crank iPhone recharger didn't quite take off, but I am hoping this will, because of it's simplicity and low cost.

I ran to my closet and ripped out the first wire hanger I could grab, threw off the dry cleaning bag and pulled off the cashmere sweater I haven't worn since the last El Nino. I took a twisty tie from the bag of Whole Wheat And Honey Fiber Bread bag and rigged up the hanger to the iPhone that I borrowed from a friend. We tested it and he said he got better reception, but I think he was just saying that to make me happy and to put down the hot glue gun I had in my left hand.

My invention won't fix the reception problems of the iPhone, but it might spur a new source of income for copycats in China into making pastel colored hanger Bunny ears for sale to unsuspecting desperate iPhone users.

"No... wire... hangers. What's wire hangers doing in this closet when I told you: no wire hangers EVER? ... I buy you beautiful dresses, and you treat them like they were some dishrag. You do. Three hundred dollar dress on a wire hanger." - Mommie Dearest (1981)

But I am all for wire hangers on three hundred dollar phones....

California’s First Carbon Capture Project: Vital Climate Tool or License to Pollute?

California’s first attempt to capture and sequester carbon involves California Resources Corp. collecting emissions at its Elk Hills Oil and Gas Field, and then inject the gases more than a mile deep into a depleted oil reservoir. The goal is to keep carbon underground and out of the atmosphere, where it traps heat and contributes to climate change. But some argue polluting industries need to cease altogether.

California Isn't on Track To Meet Its Climate Change Mandates. It's Not Even Close.

According to the annual California Green Innovation Index released by Next 10 last week, California is off track from meeting its climate goals for the year 2030, as well as reaching carbon neutrality by 2045.

A Battle Is Underway Over California’s Lucrative Dairy Biogas Market

California is considering changes to a program that has incentivized dairy biogas, to transform methane emissions into a source of natural gas. Neighbors are pushing for an end to the subsidies because of its impact on air quality and possible water pollution.
