Los Angeles-based Reason contributing editor Tim Cavanaugh write cleverly this month about the battle between e-commerce and physical commerce.Between four and eight percent of U.S. retail business is conducted online, according to government and other figures that Cavanaugh sites.Those numbers are lower than he would have guessed, he writes:
"While business experts, futurists and most of the media are out to convince you of the game-changing power of new communication technology, one important technical feature of the 21st century has been the persistence of really old-fashioned ways."
