Think Tank Cup Ain't Like World Cup

When the 2010 Think Tank Cup began, we warned that the results of this simulated and conceptual tourney were highly unlikely to match the results from the World Cup pitch.That's turned out to be correct.For example,  the Think Tank Cup -- learn more about it here -- featured the U.S. defeating England in the championship game to win that faux Cup. Japan and Italy were the other Think Tank Cup semi-finalists.As of this morning, all four of those nations' sides are eliminated from the real World Cup.Ten of the 16 nations to make it out of group play in the Think Tank Cup also made that next round of the World Cup. But, at best, only two of the eight Think Tank Cup quarterfinalists will make the World Cup quarters.
