TRAILS
Rio Hondo
The segment above Whittier Narrows and up to El Monte along this tributary of the L.A. River provides some lovely riding opportunities. The Whittier Narrows Recreation Area is the epicenter of horse-related activities in this part of town, with a vibrant equestrian community that includes many different types of riding backgrounds. The San Gabriel River is the more traditional north-south horse route, but there are sprawling trails from the Equestrian Center west to the Rio Hondo area.
