This park features a picnic area, barbecue pits, a play area, and a baseball diamond. Watch enthusiasts as they pilot radio-controlled aircraft at the flying field or even take in a cricket match.
A wide pathway along the crest of the dam with a consistent flow of choice scenery. Walk, bike or pedal to the center of the Hansen Dam (a 1/2-mile) to take in great views.
A pleasant man-made lake with a little waterfall and a tiny creek flowing out of the lake. Find the creek that runs from the lake and empties into the L.A. River.
A riverside path with shade and scenery. Head upstream from Balboa Boulevard along the soft-bottom section of the river and explore the stream, fish, birds and other wildlife.
This is a lovely section of the river:soft-bottomed and full of fish, birds and plants. It is a popular place to stroll, take in the sights, fish, bike or picnic. There are no restrooms here so plan ahead.
A riverside path with shade and scenery that lets you explore the banks. Keep a lookout for the two rock ledges. You will be rewarded with wonderful encounters with an assortment of birds.
Balboa Sports Center is part of the Sepulveda Basin Recreation Area and functions as an activity hub for sports, dance and yoga. There are facilities for soccer, baseball, golf and biking, as well as walking and picnic areas.
This five acre park is a lush, natural landscape nestled within the larger Whittier Narrows Recreation Area. It's an excellent area to run wild, bird watch, bike on the Rio Hondo Bike Path, picnic or generally idle the day away.
Plan a family outing at Hansen Dam, a scenic man-made lake. Fish in the lake, take walks to explore the spacious wilds, look for horses, birds and other wildlife or take a stroll on the loop around the lake.
