KCET's thrice-yearly screening series is back for Fall! Join us as we preview eight major new films prior to their first run local release.

Hosted by nationally recognized film expert Pete Hammond, the KCET Cinema series allows you to review the best of Hollywood, independent and foreign films Tuesday nights at the Aero Theater in Santa Monica. A lively Q & A follows each screening with the filmmakers and top movie talent.

August 30 is our opening night, featuring Warrior, A searing Oscar-worthy family drama in the tradition of the Academy Award winning film The Fighter. The plot focuses on the lives of two brothers at odds with each other in their personal lives and in the boxing ring. The cast includes Nick Nolte, Tom Hardy and Joel Edgerton in this must-see extraordinary new American film from Lionsgate Films.Q & A with director Gavin O'Connor and screenwriter Anthony Tambakis after the show.

DRIVE Ryan Gosling plays a Hollywood stunt performer by day, getaway driver by night, who discovers that a contract has been put on him after a heist gone wrong. Also starring Bryan Cranston, Albert Brooks and Carey Mulligan and Director Nicolas Winding Refn. we are pre-screening this film prior to its Toronto Film Festival debut!

50/50 from Summit EntertainmentJoseph Gordon-Levitt stars as an otherwise healthy 27-year-old who gets suddenly diagnosed with cancer. The film follows the drama that unfolds when each of the people closest to him react differently to his diagnosis. Guests for Q & A TBD.

Like Crazy, from Paramount PicturesA complex and complicated love story of two young people in a relationship stuck somewhere between L.A. and London. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at the 2011 Sundance Film Festival as well as Best Actress for Felicity Jones. Q and A follows with star Anton Yelchin and writer/director Drake Doremus.

The Ides of March, from Sony PicturesBased on the play Farragut North, this gripping political thriller is about an idealistic staffer (Ryan Gosling) who learns about the seamy side of politics when he works for a Presidential candidate. George Clooney, Evan Rachel Wood, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Paul Giamatti co-star in this brilliant adaptation written and directed by Clooney. Q&A immediately follows with Oscar winning (Traffic) film editor Steven Mirrione.

Margin Call, from Paramount PicturesA thriller set in the high-stakes world of the financial industry entangling the key players at an investment firm during one perilous 24-hour period in the early stages of the 2008 financial crisis. When an entry-level analyst Peter Sullivan (Zachary Quinto) unlocks information that could prove to be the downfall of the firm, a roller-coaster ride ensues as decisions financial and moral catapult the lives of all involved to the brink of disaster. The film stars an ensemble cast that includes: Simon Baker, Penn Badgley, Paul Bettany, Jeremy Irons, Demi Moore, Mary McDonnell, Kevin Spacey, Stanley Tucci and Zachary Quinto.

Anonymous, by Sony Pictures Set against the backdrop of the succession of Queen Elizabeth I (Vanessa Redgrave) and the Essex Rebellion against her, this is an intriguing period thriller that poses the theory that it was in fact Edward De Vere, The Earl of Oxford (Rhys Ifans) who actually penned the plays credited to William Shakespeare and that 'ol Will was just a front. Q&A immediately follows with screenwriter John Orloff.

Breakfast At Tiffany's, by Paramount PicturesTo celebrate Johnny Mercer we will show the 1961 classic Breakfast At Tiffany's starring Audrey Hepburn and, of course prominently featuring Mercer's and Henry Mancini's Oscar winning Moon River. This movie directed by Blake Edwards and based on the Truman Capote book is still a style and trend-setter today with numerous 'Tiffany's' inspired art and fashion. The film also won an Oscar for Mancini's score and premiered in October 1961, 50 years almost to the day of our screening. Preceding the movie will be a discussion of the film with Ginny Mancini, wife of Henry Mancini .
