Support Provided By
ucscfarms1

Watch the California Matters episode about UC Santa Cruz Farm, a pioneering, organic farm that's benefiting an entire community.

Looking to exercise your green thumb or seeking to learn more about growing your own food? There are many places to start, either with seminars, workshops, or just getting your hands dirty and volunteering at one of L.A.'s many community farms and gardens. In exchange for committing to working a few hours per month, oftentimes you can take home a bag of organic produce, too.

Here are some volunteer opportunities throughout Los Angeles County:

Elysian Park: Solano Canyon Community Garden

Hollywood: Fountain Community Garden

East L.A.: East LA Learning Center & Mott Street Urban Farm

South L.A.: L.A. Green Grounds

North Hollywood: North Hollywood Community Garden

Pasadena: Pasadena Community Gardens Workday

El Monte: Arroyo High's Knights Garden

Pomona: Pomona College Organic Farm
