10 Perfect Pasta Recipes For National Pasta Day

Pasta is one of those foods that probably doesn't need a holiday. it's not as though any of us ever forget that it exists; a pasta marketing campaign won't remind us of something we've long forgotten. Still, October 17 has been designated National Pasta Day, and we want to celebrate. Below, 10 of our favorite pasta recipes ever. And you can make them any day you like!

Bucatini Carbonara by Jason Neroni: Though Jason Neroni has departed for Superba Snack Bar in Venice, his bucatini carbonara is what put Hollywood's Osteria La Buca back on the culinary map. Truly an excellent dish.

Carbonara with Peas: And because we absolutely can't get enough carbonara, here's another variation!

Spaghetti al Limone: This is often thought of as a summer dish, because it's fairly light, but citrus season is over the winter! This spaghetti is quite simple, so it's perfect for weekdays.

Balsamic Roasted Chickpeas and Broccoli with Orzo: It's often assumed that orzo is a grain -- probably because it's so small -- but it's just tiny pasta! This dish is very hearty, but healthful and naturally low in fat, too.

Capellini with Cherry Tomatoes and Basil: Tomato season is winding down -- grab some before they're all gone and create some comfort food.

Pasta Salad with Lemon Citronette: Here's another get-it-while-you-can option -- corn and tomatoes are a perfect fit for the last days of SoCal summer.

Pumpkin Ravioli with Sage Brown Butter: And this season is just starting up. Winter squashes make excellent pasta fillings!

Skillet Mac and Cheese with Broccoli: It's not fancy. Who said pasta has to be fancy? But we did add a vegetable so you can call it healthy if you need to!

Penne alla Vodka: A classic. And when the weather does finally, fully turn, you'll be craving this on cold winter nights.

Dandelion Green Ravioli: You can fill the pasta pockets with another tender leafy green if dandelions can't be found (though I did spy some at Gelson's this week); the main thing is, you can make your own ravioli!
