As a distilled spirit, rum's sort of had an image problem since the 1700s. Back then, rum was mostly associated with the Royal Navy and their grog. That might sound cool if you're into empire-building, but really, aren't they akin to '90s frat boys with their rum and coke?
Fortunately for the sugarcane byproduct, it's finally getting its big break and the respect it deserves, thanks to more informed drinking and the resurgence of tiki drinks made with premium rum. We love the sheer variety of aged bottles, and it's easy to taste why they're fun to mix and also good to sip on their own.
