Liquid Tuesday: Beer, There & Everywhere
This week, try thinking beyond the margarita to one of several great beer events around town. From the Eastside to Santa Monica and all the way down to Orange County, this is a fantastic week for craft brews, and the people who love them.
Popular gastropub West 4th / Jane will be hosting the Firestone Walker folks on Wednesday night. They'll be helping to run a night of beer guessing contests, complete with prizes. Plus, for those of us who still need to do a little studying up first, $10 gets you beer flights all night long.
The weekend kicks off big. On Friday night, BUZZ wine beer shop downtown is bringing in six different beers from a few of the Bay Area's most well-regarded young breweries. For $20, you can get a taste of what's happening up north, without ever leaving this city.
Instead of the usual Cinco de Drinko on Saturday, Irvine is hosting its own Orange County Beer Festival at Irvine Lake. Get out early (or get the VIP pass) to avoid long lines at any of the dozens of craft brewers on hand. General admission tickets are $40. Then, Sunday heads back up to East Hollywood for an afternoon at Barnsdall Art Park for the Taste of the Eastside. Beyond the well-curated list of Eastside restaurants serving up popular dishes, Eagle Rock Brewery will be on hand to handle the pours with some of their most well-known local suds. Presale tickets are $45 for the food and the beer, so save yourself some cash and get them early.
