Liquid Tuesday: Dinner Pairings and a Street Fair!
Just about the last place you'd expect to find a four-course meal with a whiskey pairing is a Westside German restaurant. Yet, that's exactly what's going down this week at Steingarten LA on Pico Boulevard. Their spacious back patio is opening up for a night of Hudson Whiskey, paired with a few old world German staples.
Out in Whittier, the pairings continue. Local craft beer hotspot The Bottle Room is offering up a five-course affair for $65, including a selection of beers from Eagle Rock Brewery, Smog City and a few other notable locals. If you're looking for something a little less pricey, beer and wine shop The Green Jug in Woodland Hills is offering a few Lagers Not to Overlook. This tasting event is a scant $5, and gives you the opportunity to taste Figueroa Mountain Danish Red, New Belgium Shift Pale and several other lagers.
In West Hollywood, The Surly Goat can always be counted on to to have something tasty up their sleeve. This week, they're letting craft beer juggernauts Dogfish Head take over their taps, in exchange for a few sips of the brewery's more precious concoctions. Highlights include their 90 minute and 120 minute IPA series. Stick around long enough and they may crack open a few surprise bottles as well.
If all this indoor imbibing has got you jonesin' for some sunlight, just wait until the Hester St. Fair pops up in Hollywood. Originally a New York City event, they're branching out with an LA outpost, mixing indie designers and craftmakers with food trucks and -- you guessed it -- a beer garden. It's a mix that's worked for many different events in the past, so there's no reason to assume a beer garden featuring locally sourced craft beer in Hollywood won't be a rousing success.
