2019 Fall KCET Cinema Series Schedule

Don't miss the upcoming 2019 Fall KCET Cinema Series which screens the best of Hollywood, independent and top festival films prior to their release in theaters.

Avid moviegoers have the unique opportunity to preview the most anticipated films of the season and hear a lively post-screening Q&A with the on-screen talent and filmmakers.

Film screenings are held at the Aero Theatre (1328 Montana Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90403) on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM. The screening dates are: August 13, 20, 27, September 3, 10, 17, 24, and October 1.

If you would still like to attend the Summer KCET Cinema Series, prorated series passes are available at the Aero Theatre on Tuesdays prior to the screening. Limited walk-up admissions are available on the night of each screening for $30 per person. You may also call 747-201-5238, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to reserve an advanced pass to the screening.

All films and Q&A guests are subject to change without prior notice and some films may have studio security checks.

The true story of Katharine Gun, a British whistleblower who leaked information to the press about an illegal spy operation by the US National Security Agency designed to push the UN Security Council into sanctioning the 2003 invasion of Iraq. This American-British political thriller is directed by Academy Award-winner Gavin Hood and stars Keira Knightley, Matthew Goode, Adam Bakri, Indira Varma, and Ralph Fiennes.

Now, the 10-time GRAMMY Award-winner shares her personal story through her own words and music, with contributions from fellow artists such as Emmylou Harris, Dolly Parton, Bonnie Raitt, and others.

Directed by BAFTA Award winner John Crowley (“Brooklyn”), the film features a multigenerational cast led by Ansel Elgort (“Baby Driver”) as Theo Decker and Academy Award winning actor Nicole Kidman (“The Hours,” “Big Little Lies”) as Mrs. Barbour. Theodore Decker was 13 years old when his mother was tragically killed in a bombing at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The event changes the course of his life, sending him on a journey of grief and guilt, and finally redemption. Through his misfortune, Theo holds on to one tangible piece of hope from that terrible day...a painting of a tiny bird chained to its perch: The Goldfinch.

Thirty years after starring in "The Wizard of Oz," legendary actress and singer Judy Garland (Academy Award-winner Reneé Zellweger) is in swinging London in Winter 1968, performing a five-week run of sold-out shows. If her voice has weakened, its dramatic intensity has only grown. A passionate woman who has already had four husbands, Garland begins a whirlwind romance with musician Mickey Deans. Featuring some of her best-known songs, the film celebrates the voice, the capacity for love, and the sheer pizzazz of "the world's greatest entertainer." Jessie Buckley, Michael Gambon, Rufus Sewell, and Finn Wittrock also star.

September 24 THE CURRENT WAR 101 STUDIOS

October 1 THE REPORT AMAZON STUDIOS

U.S. Senate staffer Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver) is tasked with leading an investigation into the CIA's systematic torture of terrorist suspects in the years following the September 11 attacks. When the Senate Intelligence Committee attempts to publish their findings, they have to contend with the CIA and White House's attempts to block and undermine the report. The docudrama also stars Annette Bening as Dianne Feinstein and Ted Levine as John Brennan, among others.
