2019 Summer KCET Cinema Series Schedule
Devoted moviegoers have the unique opportunity to preview the most anticipated films of the season and experience a lively post-screening Q&A with the the film's top talent and filmmakers.
Film screenings are held on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM.
The first six screenings will be held at the historic Aero Theatre:
June 4, 11, 18, 25, July 2, 9
The last two screenings will be held at the Landmark Theatre:
July 16, 23
If you would still like to attend the Summer KCET Cinema Series, prorated series passes are available at the Aero Theatre on Tuesdays prior to the screening. Limited walk-up admissions are available on the night of each screening for $30 per person. You may also call 747-201-5238, between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. to reserve an advanced pass to the screening.
All films and Q&A guests are subject to change without prior notice and some films may have studio security checks.
JUNE 4 PAVAROTTI CBS FILMS
From the team behind the acclaimed documentary THE BEATLES: EIGHT DAYS A WEEK – THE TOURING YEARS and Academy Award-winning director Ron Howard comes the powerful documentary PAVAROTTI. A front row seat and in-depth look at legendary Luciano Pavarotti, this powerful film includes history-making performances, intimate interviews with family members, and never-before-seen footage of the celebrated classical singer. Pavarotti became well known among American audiences through the 1990 PBS music special, CARRERAS DOMINGO PAVAROTTI IN CONCERT -- the first performance given by opera tenors Luciano Pavarotti, Plácido Domingo and José Carreras under the baton of conductor Zubin Mehta at the ancient Baths of Caracalla in Rome.

JUNE 11 FRAMING JOHN DELOREAN SUNDANCE SELECTS
Power, money, controversy and scandal from the man who pursued the American Dream and dreamed of transforming the auto industry. The incredible story of John DeLorean, from his meteoric rise as a top executive at General Motors to his obsessive ambition to build the world's finest sports car to his fall on charges of cocaine trafficking. Interweaving archival footage and dramatic vignettes, the film stars Alec Baldwin as DeLorean.

June 18 BRIAN BANKS BLEEKER STREET
This film is based on the true story of a high school junior and football star in Long Beach, CA, who is falsely accused by a classmate of a crime he didn’t commit. Even with a complete lack of evidence, Brian Banks is convicted of rape and sent to prison for six years, then spends five years on parole. In 2012 after his accuser confesses she fabricated the entire story and with the support of the California Innocence Project, Banks is exonerated, released from prison, and ultimately fulfills his dream of playing NFL football.

JUNE 25 YESTERDAY UNIVERSAL PICTURES
John, Paul, George and Ringo --- names that have instant recognition around the world. The boys from Liverpool remain to this day the most influential musicians and band in history. In this fictitious musical tale by Academy Award®-winning director Danny Boyle (Slumdog Millionaire, Trainspotting, 28 Days Later), a struggling singer/songwriter named Jack Malik (Himesh Patel, BBC’s EastEnders) is involved in a freak bus accident. After he awakens and returns to performing, he discovers no one in the world remembers The Beatles. No one, that is, except Jack.

July 2 THE FAREWELL A24 FILMS
A funny and inspirational tale based on a true story from the life of filmmaker Lulu Wang. Billi (Awkwafina) is Chinese-born but has grown up in the U.S. When she reluctantly returns to China to see her grandmother who only has a short time to live, she realizes everyone has decided to conceal the truth from grandmother and focus instead on a family wedding.

JULY 9 DAVID CROSBY: REMEMBER MY NAME SONY PICTURES CLASSICS
A thoughtful and nostalgic look at award-winning singer-songwriter David Crosby, and his contribution to three iconic bands of the 1960s and 1970s: The Byrds; Crosby, Stills & Nash; and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young. The documentary film takes its name from his first solo album, If I Could Only Remember My Name, and debuted at the 2019 Sundance Film Festival to rave reviews.

JULY 16 THIS CHANGES EVERYTHING GOOD DEED ENTERTAINMENT
An insightful documentary about gender inequality in Hollywood and American culture in general that offers possible solutions to this persistent and pervasive issue. Henson, Rashida Jones, Sandra Oh, Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon, and many other influential voices from around the world.

July 23 THE ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN 20TH CENTURY FOX (DISNEY)
Based on The New York Times bestselling novel by American author, playwright and film producer Garth Stein, this heart-warming film is the story of Enzo (the voice of Kevin Costner), a race car-obsessed dog who believes he will be reincarnated as a human. While his owner Denny Swift (Milo Ventimiglia) teaches him about auto racing and human relationships, most of Enzo's ideas and knowledge come from watching television. Amanda Seyfried (Mama Mia! Here We Go Again) also stars.
