'Augie' is a Triumph of the Human Spirit at KCET’s Spring Cinema Series February 27

Augie Nieto was known as the Steve Jobs of the fitness industry and popularized the LifeCycle in gyms across the country as the founder of LifeFitness. In 2005 at the age of 47, he was diagnosed with ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease. The documentary explores his journey dealing with this life changing disease with his wife Lynne by his side as they race to find a cure in the fight to save his life…and the lives of millions. Augie’s will to live and his continued drive to help find a cure for ALS have helped raise over $60 million for the scientific research for ALS through his Augie’s Quest Foundation.

Augie Nieto said, “It is Lynne and my hope that by putting our story out there, we can touch others who are going through difficult times, raise awareness and critical funding for effective treatments and an ultimate cure for ALS.”

“Augie” will be released in limited theaters by PCH Films. Q&A immediately following with director/producer James Keach, producer Eric Carlson, Augie Nieto and Lynne Nieto hosted by Pete Hammond of KCET’s Must See Movies.
