Cinema Series Continues March 1 with "Hello, My Name Is Doris"
The KCET Cinema Series continues at the ArcLight Cinemas Sherman Oaks on March 1 with "Hello, My Name Is Doris." Sally Field stars in this comedy as a quirky New Yorker who falls for a much younger co-worker and is drawn into a circle of incredibly hip circle of young Brooklynites.
"It was a very hot movie out of South by Southwest last year," says KCET Cinema Series host and Deadline columnist Pete Hammond, adding that it's a "full-bodied leading role" for Field. "Hello, My Name Is Doris," evolved from a short film made by Laura Terruso while studying at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts. The short caught the attention of writer/director Michael Showalter ("Stella," "Wet Hot American Summer"), who collaborated with Terruso on turning the idea into a feature film.
At Tuesday night's screening, Hammond will be joined by Showalter for a Q/A session. The Spring session of the KCET Cinema Series launched on February 23 with "Eye in the Sky" and continues through April 12. The KCET Cinema Series is sponsored by E. Hofert Dailey Trust and brings critically acclaimed films to audiences prior to their theatrical release.
