Dan Stevens Is the Perfect Date in 'I'm Your Man' at the Virtual KCET Cinema Series on Sept. 22
Germany's Official Entry Into the 2022 International Oscar Race
Q&A immediately following screening with the film’s co-star Dan Stevens.
A playful romance about a museum scientist who must participate in an extraordinary study in order to obtain funding for her archeology research. For three weeks, Alma (Maren Eggert) must live with Tom (Dan Stevens), a humanoid robot designed to be the perfect life partner. In German with English subtitles.
Dan Stevens recalls encountering receiving the project. "I was in the thick of pandemic lockdown, and the project came through my agent in London. They were looking for a foreign actor who could speak German. The script was in German, and none of my representatives could read it. So I was sent this thing out of the blue, like, 'We don’t know what this, is but you read German, take a look at see what you think.' I scurried away, got out my German dictionary, and got on with it."
Stevens studied German in school and practiced the language on trips to Germany to visit family friends. While he’s not the only English actor fluent in German, "I think there are about five of us. It’s a short and very distinguished list," he laughs.
Immediately following the screening, Deadline's chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A with the film’s co-star Dan Stevens ("Downton Abbey," "Beauty and the Beast").
The film screens on Wednesday, Sept. 22 at 7 p.m. PDT. Only $10 per viewing link. Limited space available.
