KCET Cinema Series opens for its summer season this Tuesday night at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. Kicking off the nine-week celebration of film is "Genius," from Tony-winning director Michael Grandage and Academy Award-nominated writer John Logan. Based on the book, "Max Perkins: Editor of Genius," the film tells the true story of the New York book editor whose discoveries included F. Scott Fitzgerald, Ernest Hemingway and Thomas Wolfe. Colin Firth and Jude Law star as Perkins and Wolfe, respectively. The film also features Nicole Kidman as costume designer Aline Bernstein, Laura Linney as playwright Louise Perkins, Guy Pearce as F. Scott Fitzgerald and Dominic West as Ernest Hemingway.

The Summer 2016 KCET Cinema Series takes place on Tuesday nights from June 7 through August 2. Screenings begin at 7 p.m. and feature Q&A sessions hosted by Deadline Hollywood's Pete Hammond.
