Julianne Moore is Dancing Queen 'Gloria Bell' at the Spring KCET Cinema Series on March 5
Q&A immediately following with screenwriter Alice Johnson Boher.
From Academy Award-winning director Sebastián Lelio ("A Fantastic Woman," "Disobedience") comes a sophisticated romantic comedy. Gloria (Moore) is a free-spirited divorcée who spends her days at a straight-laced office job and her nights on the dance floor, joyfully letting loose at clubs around Los Angeles. After meeting Arnold (John Turturro) on a night out, she finds herself thrust into an unexpected new romance, filled with both the joys of promising love and the complications of dating, identity and family.
In addition to Moore and Tuturro, “Gloria Bell” co-stars Michael Cera, Rita Wilson and Brad Garrett. The film is the latest offering from A24, which most recently released Jonah Hill’s directorial debut “Mid90s” and KCET Cinema Series favorite “Eighth Grade.”
In a recent interview with L’Officiel, Moore commented, “There are so many movies that are made about people who are heroic. You’re the Queen of England. Or, you discovered the cure for polio. Or, you’re going to the moon. But for most of us, life’s just not that. For most of us, life is: You grow up, have a family, have a partner, you get a job, lose a job, you get another job, you have friends, you go to dinner. This movie is like, ‘Celebrate your real life.’”
The film screens at 7:00 p.m. at the ArcLight Cinemas in Sherman Oaks. Immediately following the screening, Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A session with screenwriter Alice Johnson Boher. “Gloria Bell” will be released by A24 Films on March 8, 2019.
