Juliette Binoche and Catherine Deneuve Star in 'The Truth' at the Spring KCET Cinema Series on March 10
“The Truth” is directed by award-winning Japanese filmmaker Hirokazu Kore-eda ("Shoplifters," "Still Walking") and stars legendary French actors, Catherine Deneuve and Juliette Binoche. Fabienne (Catherine Deneuve) is an aging French movie star who publishes her long-awaited memoirs. Her daughter Lumir (Juliette Binoche) returns to Paris from New York with her husband (Ethan Hawke) to commemorate the release of the book, but a long-brewing family conflict between mother and daughter comes to the surface in this emotionally charged family drama.
Regarding the iconic Catherine Deneuve, writer/director Hirokazu Kore-eda said, “I knew there was somebody who could embody cinema history, the history of her country, that she would be perfect. It was possible to make the movie just because she exists.”
The film screens at 7 p.m. at the ArcLight Cinemas in Sherman Oaks.
