Written by Jim Strouse and directed by John Krasinski, the film tells the story of a New York artist who heads back to his hometown to see his ailing mother. "It's a great, dysfunctional family comedy," says Pete Hammond, host of the KCET Cinema Series. "The Hollars" features an ensemble cast that includes Krasinski, Sharlto Copley ("Maleficent"), Charlie Day ("It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia"), Richard Jenkins ("The Visitor"), Anna Kendrick ("Pitch Perfect 2"), Margo Martindale ("August: Osage County"), Randall Park ("Fresh Off the Boat"), Mary Elizabeth Winstead ("Scott Pilgrim vs. The World") and chart-topping singer Josh Groban.

Following the screening, Krasinski will be on hand for a Q&A session led by Hammond.

The fall season of the KCET Cinema Series opened on August 16 with "The Sea of Trees" and will run through October 10.
