'Mothering Sunday' Stars Odessa Young and Josh O'Connor at the Virtual KCET Cinema Series
The film screens on Tuesday, March 8th at 7 p.m. PT. Only $10 per viewing link. Limited space available.
One day in post-World War I England when she is alone, housemaid Jane Fairchild (Odessa Young) meets with her wealthy secret lover. Paul (Josh O'Connor) lives in the neighboring manor house and is already engaged to another woman. But events that neither lover can foresee will change the course of Jane's life forever. The British romantic drama also stars Academy Award-winners Olivia Colman, Colin Firth and Glenda Jackson.
Director Eva Husson shared her reason for directing the film: "The opportunity to bring to the big screen the story of a 'Doris Lessing-esque' writer. To explore the fragility and power of sex, love and the impact it has on a creative female artist. To do that in some sort of holy feminine triumvirate composed of Alice Birch's impeccable writing, Elizabeth Karlsen's effortless charisma, and myself, is nothing short of an extraordinary privilege. What I find truly exciting is that the movie already exists and lives on the page."
Immediately following the screening, Deadline's chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET's Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A with director Eva Husson and actor Olivia Coleman.
