The Spring KCET Cinema Series came to an end this week, but you can already start making plans to attend the summer series in Santa Monica. Sponsored by The Johnny Mercer Foundation, the KCET Cinema Series at the Aero Theatre is sure to be your favorite event this summer!

All screenings start at 7 PM.

Hosted by film critic Pete Hammond, the series features eight new films before their local theatrical release and one classic Johnny Mercer scored film. Each film will be followed by a Q&A with actors, directors, producer, screenwriters, and more. The opening night film is "Twenty Feet From Stardom" on June 4th at 7 p.m.:

The film charts the untold stories of four female background vocalists who, while remaining largely unknown to the majority of us, helped shape some of our favorites songs through the decades. Also featuring interviews with such musical legends as Bruce Springstein, Mick Jagger, and Bette Middler, this powerful documentary, directed by Morgan Neville, was nominated for the Grand Jury prize at the 2013 Sundance Film Festival.

Make sure to buy your passes early. The KCET Cinema Series at the Aero Theatre is a popular event.
