Take a Trip to Tuscany in 'Made In Italy' at the Virtual KCET Cinema Series on August 6

A story set in Tuscany about a bohemian London artist Robert (Liam Neeson) who returns to Italy with his estranged son Jack (Neeson’s real-life son Micheál Richardson) to make a quick sale of the house they inherited from his late wife. Neither expects to find the once beautiful villa in such a state of disrepair, or be captivated by locals who include an ex-pat (Lindsay Duncan) making her living selling villas and a young Italian chef (Valeria Bilello) restoring both body and soul with delights from her trattoria. By actor, writer and first-time director James D'Arcy ("Dunkirk"). 

D'Arcy shared, “The film has gone through many iterations, but at the heart of it I always envisioned a love story between father and son. I hoped that by placing them in a foreign location that harboured both secrets and memories for them I’d be able to use that to my advantage in terms of cracking open the hard shells of these two stubborn characters. I felt that the glorious Tuscan location might help melt away the build-up of resentments they’d accumulated — to reveal their true love for each other.”

Immediately following the screening, Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A with writer/director James D’Arcy.
