U.S. Senate staffer Daniel J. Jones (Adam Driver) is tasked with leading an investigation into the CIA's systematic torture of terrorist suspects in the years following the September 11 attacks. When the Senate Intelligence Committee attempts to publish their findings, they have to contend with the CIA and White House's attempts to block and undermine the report. The docudrama also stars Annette Bening as Dianne Feinstein and Ted Levine as John Brennan, with a supporting ensemble cast that includes Jon Hamm, Michael C. Hall, Matthew Rhys, Jennifer Morrison, Corey Stoll, Maura Tierney and more.

“Dramatizations like The Report help us connect with the humanity of the characters in a way that’s different from news articles or documentaries,” says producer Jennifer Fox. “When we are able to see Adam as Dan Jones struggle with his job, or we see Annette Bening as Senator Feinstein grapple with an important decision, we are able to watch the story unfold as they are living it. You find yourself leaning in and wanting to know how it’s all going to be resolved because you genuinely care about these characters, having seen over the course of the film how the events they are witnessing shape their actions and decisions.”

The film screens at 7:00 p.m. at the Aero Theatre in Santa Monica. Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate a Q&A immediately following with writer/director Scott Z. Burns and producer Jennifer Fox.

The fall season of the KCET Cinema Series begins on August 13 and runs through October 1. Season passes are available online and individual admissions are available at the door for $30 each. The Aero Theatre is located at 1328 Montana Ave, Santa Monica, CA 90403 and nearby parking is available. To learn more about the series call 201.747.5238.
