'This Changes Everything' to Screen at the Summer KCET Cinema Series on July 16

An insightful documentary about gender inequality in Hollywood and American culture in general that offers possible solutions to this persistent and pervasive issue. Featuring interviews with Cate Blanchett, Jessica Chastain, Geena Davis, Tiffany Haddish, Taraji P. Henson, Rashida Jones, Sandra Oh, Meryl Streep, Reese Witherspoon and many other influential voices from around the world.

Director Tom Donahue stated, “In the first year of making the film, we were introduced to the work of the Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media. Through Geena and her team, I came to understand the outsized impact the disparity within the small town of Hollywood has on the larger world. When half of a society’s population does not have a voice, the entire culture is degraded. Leaving it awash in a toxic masculinity that rests power in people who are not working in the interest of everyone.”

The film screens at 7:00 p.m. at The Landmark Theatre. Deadline’s chief film critic Pete Hammond, who can also be seen on KCET’s Must See Movies, will moderate Q&A immediately following with with executive producer Geena Davis and director Tom Donahue. “This Changes Everything” is available in theatres from Good Deed Entertainment beginning June 28, 2019.

The summer season of the KCET Cinema Series is generously sponsored by Deadline.com. The season began on June 4 and runs through July 23. The first six dates will be held at the historic Aero Theatre on June 4, 11, 18, 25, July 2 and 9. The last two dates will be held at the Landmark Theatre on July 16 and 23.
