Fall Series of Community Placemaking Workshops in Northeast Los Angeles Now Under Way
Building upon the workshops held this summer by the Northeast L.A. Riverfront Collaborative (NELA RC) and the City of Los Angeles, the latest series of Placemaking Community Workshops is now under way, taking place in each of the five neighborhoods of the NELA Riverfront Area: Atwater Village, Lincoln Heights, Cypress Park, Elysian Valley, and Glassell Park. The workshops are open to the public and intended to allow the community to identify what resources, assets, and points of interest are most valued within each specific neighborhood.
Below are the schedule for the workshops:
The term "Placemaking" is defined as a comprehensive approach to the planning, design and management of public spaces. The goal of this effort will help define a common vision and identify viable projects that can implement that vision. The first two placemaking workshops, in Atwater Village and Lincoln Heights, were held Tuesday and Thursday respectively. This Saturday's meeting will focus on Cypress Park and be held at the Cypress Park Library, from 11:00-12:30 p.m. More information can be found here.
Working alongside NELA RC, City of Los Angeles and the LA Conservation Corps, the collaborative effort is joined by the consultant team of Mia Lehrer + Associates, LA Más and the Robert Group.
