Burbank, Calif.June 1, 2016KCETLink Media Group, a leading national independent nonprofit public broadcast and digital network, announced today that actress Kate Walsh (“GREY’S ANATOMY,” “PRIVATE PRACTICE,” “FARGO”) has signed on to be the spokesperson for KCETLink Media Group’s national public service campaign around the importance of voting called “YOUR CHOICE. YOUR VOICE.” The educational campaign launches on-air and online today at KCET.org/YourChoiceYourVoice as part of KCET’s “Ballot Brief” initiative.  In her appearances, Walsh focuses on the importance of voting, with a particular emphasis on diversity and education.

Walsh’s first PSA as KCETLink’s on-air ambassador to get out and vote will run through June 7 in Southern California on KCET, the nation’s largest independent public television station, prior to the June 7 California primary election. A second phase of the initiative encourages voter turnout across the country and runs from late August through the national Election Day (Nov. 8, 2016) on both Link TV nationwide (DirecTV 375 and Dish Network 9410) and on KCET in Southern California. A variety of PSAs from both local and national non-partisan organizations, such as The California Endowment and Voto Latino, will follow Walsh’s message recognizing the importance for viewers to use their Constitutional right to elect government representatives.

“We are thrilled that Kate Walsh has joined us to encourage people to get out and vote as KCETLink builds on its platform as a convener for important community issues,” said KCETLink Media Group Vice President of Communications, Ariel Carpenter. “Kate Walsh is a vocal proponent of voting rights and her activism around voter education continues to make an impact. Our organization shares this commitment to foster an engaged and active voting citizenry.”
