AWARD WINNING SOCAL CONNECTED RETURNS
FOR FOURTH SEASON ON KCET, PREMIERING SEPTEMBER 30
LOS ANGELES, September 26 - SoCal Connected, KCET's award-winning investigative news series returns for a fourth season September 30 at 8:30 p.m., moving its weekly airtime to KCET's Friday night news block.
"SHOW ME THE MONEY"
The season premiere includes another report in Southern California's award-winning investigative series, "Show Me the Money" with a look at Los Angeles' decaying infrastructure -- particularly the thousands of miles of cracked and often dangerous sidewalks. In these depressed economic times, who's going to fix them -- could homeowners get stuck with the bill? Correspondent Vince Gonzales also asks why Los Angeles never applied for federal money when it was available. Producer Karen Foshay.
"BURGER BINGE"
Two thirds of us are either overweight or obese. Part of the problem is fast food. One quarter of all Americans go to a fast food restaurant every day, contributing to the $140 billion a year business. Who's to blame -- the fast food restaurants that heavily advertise their high calorie meals...or the individuals who go there? Correspondent Brian Rooney hears both sides -- including a frank appraisal from a product developer at one of Los Angeles' favorite fast food chains. The producer is Saul Gonzalez.
BRIAN UNGER
Noted satirist Brian Unger joins SoCal Connected with a look at civic activism, West Hollywood style. Just recently West Hollywood voted to ban fur sales, the first community in the country.
Season four of SoCal Connected will continue to feature in-depth investigative reporting plus multi-part series on sustainability, elder care and the economy.
The Executive Producer of SoCal Connected is Bret Marcus. Co-Executive Producer is Justine Schmidt. Anchor is Val Zavala.
