COHEN FILM CLASSICS Premieres Fri., Aug. 4 at 10 p.m. PT on KCET in Southern California And on Link TV nationwide (DirecTV 375 and DISH network 9410) at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

A second season of COHEN FILM CLASSICS will kick off this fall offering viewers a chance to watch some of the most iconic films that defined the early twentieth century cinema landscape. The series is hosted by Charles S. Cohen, Chairman & CEO of the Cohen Film Collection and Cohen Media Group, producer and distributor of critically acclaimed arthouse, foreign and classic films including the Academy Award® winning film The Salesman. Each film will be available for streaming online for seven days following the broadcast premiere. The films include three 1930s romantic comedies, two 2014 documentaries and a 2013 Simón Bolívar biopic.

Kicking off the new season of the popular Friday night series is “The Liberator,” the tale of Simón Bolívar’s 100+ battles against the Spanish Empire in South America. He rode over 70,000 miles on horseback and his military campaigns covered twice the territory of Alexander the Great. His army never conquered - it liberated. Starring Édgar Ramírez, with a soundtrack by Gustavo Dudamel.

Additional films scheduled in the lineup are as follows: “Perfect Understanding” on 8/11, “St. Martin’s Lane” on 8/18, “Storm in a Teacup” on 8/25 and “Magician: The Astonishing Life and Work of Orson Welles” on 9/1 and “Deli Man” on 10/6.

Charles Cohen is an influential patron, innovator and visionary of culture and the arts. To bring this series to life, Cohen opened the Cohen Film Collection vault which contains over 700 titles to create a curated mix of ten films — documentaries, musicals, comedies, animation, dramas and avant-garde works. Cohen has made it his mission to share his passion for collecting rare films and bringing them back to life with the care and attention they deserve, many of which have been beautifully restored to their original condition.

COHEN FILM CLASSICS airs immediately following KCET MUST SEE MOVIES which airs Fridays on KCET at 8 p.m. PT, creating an exciting Friday night block of high-quality, uninterrupted films for viewers of all ages to watch legendary stars in timeless movies from Hollywood’s most iconic filmmakers.
