Burbank, Calif. – March 8, 2018 – KCETLink Media Group, a leading national independent nonprofit public broadcast and digital network, announced two new environmental series as part of the networks’ initiative to bring awareness to global issues harming the planet. The new series AMERICAN RIVERS focuses on how humans have stepped in to change our rivers to create a positive and lasting effect on our environment that ensures access to clean water. ANGRY PLANET explores the most extreme forces of nature that are creating the first refugees of climate change, hosted by adventurer George Kourounis.
AMERICAN RIVERS (Five 45-minute episodes)
Learn how rivers have flowed throughout our history and how their existence and production of clean water remains vital, yet continues to worsen. Rivers have been modified and manipulated, forced into man-made paths, controlled by computers; even their flow has been reversed. Premieres Tues., April 3 at 10 p.m. on KCET in Southern California and Premieres on Link TV nationwide Sun., April 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT (encores on Tuesdays at 7 p.m. ET and 4 p.m. PT). Streaming on kcet.org and linktv.org
ANGRY PLANET (Ten 30-minute episodes)
Professional storm chaser George Kourounis experiences the most extreme forces of nature and reports back from the front lines of climate change. With nature becoming less predictable, locals are faced with great environmental threats, making it nearly impossible for them to cope. As the planet heats up, natural disasters are becoming more frequent and severe. In a call to action for change, ANGRY PLANET asks the human race to step up and make a difference. Premieres Wed., April 4 at 8 p.m. on KCET in Southern California (encores Wed. at 10:30 p.m. PT and Sun. at 7 p.m. PT). Premieres on Link TV nationwide Wed., April 4 at 8:30 p.m. ET/PT (encores Sun., April 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT). Streaming on YouTube, Roku and Apple TV, kcet.org and linktv.org
