characters. The night kicks-off on Sept. 8 at 9 p.m. with BBC's acclaimed investigative drama, Scott & Bailey. The hit series explores

the personal and professional lives of two female detectives - DC Rachel Bailey

(Suranne Jones), a down-to-earth, noisy, argumentative and single woman; and

her partner, DC Janet Scott (Lesley Sharp), a diplomat and a thinker, who is

also a wife and mother.

At 9:45 p.m., back by popular demand,

mystery series, Rosemary and Thyme follows the adventures of two gardening enthusiasts, Rosemary Boxer

(Felicity Kendal) and Laura Thyme (Pam Ferris) who find themselves caught up in

Award-winning BBC sitcom, Miranda (10:30 p.m.), written by and

starring comedienne Miranda Hart will close the female-driven block.  New to KCET, the series delves into Hart's

semi-fictional, clumsy world where whatever she attempts in life seems to end

in a disastrous way.

The Best of British Drama

KCET will continue to air the best of British

dramas five nights a week,

Sunday-Thursday at 8 p.m.

Sunday

Foyle's War - Set during and shortly after World War II,

the series chronicles the adventures of Detective Chief Superintendent

Christopher Foyle's (Michael Kitchen) as he attempts to apprehend

criminals who are taking advantage of the confusion the war has created in

England.

Monday

New Tricks - A team of retired

former detectives with over 80 years service between them and three very

distinct personalities is recruited to re-examine unsolved crimes

Tuesday

Death in Paradise - The warm,

light-hearted detective series follows a strait-laced detective from London's Metropolitan Police who is sent to

the fictional Caribbean island of Sainte-Marie to solve the case of the

death of a fellow British policeman.

Wednesday

MI-5 - The action-packed drama

follows the clandestine security service, and the people who make up

the elite team. Topical and edgy, the series chronicles the passion, jeopardy

and the intrigue of people who have to lie for a living - and who can never

tell the truth to their loved ones about what it is that they do.

Thursday

Doc Martin - KCET's highest-rated

program, the series stars Martin Clunes (

Men

Behaving Badly

) as Dr. Martin Ellingham, whose truculence and tactless manner

causes mayhem in a small Cornish community. The series details the trials and

tribulations of the brash Ellingham, once a celebrated London surgeon who left

his job after developing a phobia to blood.

In addition, beginning

Thursday, September 5, KCET will reprise the back-to-back programming

schedule starring Clunes. Viewers can watch the versatility of the

award-winning actor, as he transforms from a brilliant yet abrasive and

ill-mannered surgeon in Doc Martin to

a kind and romantic undertaker in William and Mary.  Alongside Clunes, the series stars Julie

Graham and follows two single parents looking for love, who perhaps find it, but experience twists and turns along the way.
