KCET Offers Morning International Newscasts
OFFERS INTERNATIONAL NEWSCASTS EACH MORNING

4, 2011 - KCET expands its international news offerings with the addition of a
daily one-hour block of morning newscasts beginning on Monday, March 7, with BBC World News, airing Monday through
Friday at 6:00 a.m., and Al Jazeera
English News, airing daily at 6:30 a.m. Encore broadcasts of BBC Newsnight will air Saturday and
Sunday mornings at 6:00 a.m. The move continues KCET's commitment to providing
international news from some of the world's most respected newsgathering
In response to
the uprisings in the Mideast, KCET began airing Al Jazeera English News on February 1 as part of an international
news block from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. The programming consists of BBC World News (5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.)
and NHK Newsline (5:30 p.m.); Al Jazeera English News (4:00 p.m. and
6:30 p.m.) and Israeli Broadcast Authority's IBA News (4:30 p.m.). In addition, KCET now airs Al Jazeera English News live at 11:00 p.m.

Officer. "With what's going on in the world right now, that diverse reporting -
from BBC, Al Jazeera Live, NHK and IBA-- is vitally important to our viewers. KCET
is pleased to bring our audience another access point with early-morning
broadcasts of BBC World News and Al Jazeera English News."
KCET is the
only major broadcaster in Southern California offering Al Jazeera English News, which can also be seen on KCET's multicast
digital channel MHz Worldview. Schedules are available at kcet.org.
Without in-person events to launch their new books, authors are touring virtually.
