KCET PRESCRIBES THE BRITISH SERIES 'DOC MARTIN' FOR THURSDAY NIGHTS BEGINNING ON OCTOBER 21
Los Angeles, CA - October 7, 2010 - Beginning October 21 at 8:00 p.m., Thursday nights on KCET are the place for back-to-back drama with the addition of Doc Martin, a British comedy-drama series starring Martin Clunes (Men Behaving Badly) as Martin Ellingham.  Once an esteemed London-based surgeon, Ellingham develops a phobia to blood, which forces the doctor to leave his post. After retraining as a general practitioner, he chooses to replace a deceased local doctor in the beautiful but sleepy village of Portwenn, a place where he fondly spent his childhood holidays. Despite Doc Martin's surgical brilliance, his abrasive personality and tactless bedside manner do not exactly agree with the friendly Cornish community. Deep down Doc Martin is a gentle, generous soul. The trouble is that no one ever sees that side of him. Follow Doc Martin as he clashes with villagers, creates mayhem and attempts to develop a romantic relationship with Louisa Glasson, played by British actress Caroline Catz. The PBS series Masterpiece (Masterpiece Classic, Masterpiece Mystery! and Masterpiece Contemporary) follows Doc Martin on Thursdays at 9:00 p.m.  ###
