KCET Presents 'Britain's Royal Weddings' in Celebration of the Duke and Dutchess of Cambridge's Visit to California

Los Angeles, CA - June 29, 2011 - KCET, the nation's largest independent public media company serving Southern and Central California, presents Britain's Royal Weddings, July 5 at 9:00 p.m., to celebrate the arrival of Prince William and Kate, the newly named Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, to Los Angeles.

Britain's Royal Weddings reveals the intimate story behind the nation's historical nuptials, from the Queen Mother to Princess Margaret, told from the viewpoint of the people who witnessed them. Hosted by BBC's anchorwoman Sophie Raworth, each hour-long episode explores the origins of royal wedding traditions, how they have evolved to reflect the changing times, and what it is like to take part in staging a grand event that is seen by millions around the world.

During "Royals Week" in April, KCET aired eight hours of primetime programs that celebrated the Royal Wedding and the midnight live broadcast of the wedding, which gave the station its highest ratings of the year in primetime and late night.

"Because of this success, added with the media frenzy revolving around the royal couple, we hope to see the same response in viewership with Britain's Royal Weddings," says Bohdan Zachary, KCET's vice president, Broadcasting & Program Development.

Britain's Royal Weddings will have an encore broadcast of its two-part series on Saturday, July 9 at 9:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m.
