Burbank, Calif. -Feb. 1, 2018 - KCETLink Media Group, a leading national independent nonprofit public broadcast and digital network, today announced that it has partnered with the Thomson Reuters Foundation for a new season of KCET and Link TV's acclaimed original environmental investigative series EARTH FOCUS.

Launched in 2007, EARTH FOCUS is the longest-running environmental news magazine on U.S. television providing regional and national audiences with urgent local and global environmental coverage that spotlights issues, impact and possible solutions from a variety of unique perspectives.

Slated to premiere in April 2018, the new season of EARTH FOCUS, co-produced with the Thomson Reuters Foundation, focuses on the global concerns of adaptation, exploring how environmental changes are forcing all living creatures to adapt in order to survive. The new season of the series travels to far-flung parts of the globe including Sierra Leone, Madagascar and Morocco, as well as cities in the U.S. including New Orleans, Los Angeles and San Francisco, to explore how urban planning of communities is evolving in the wake of heightened environmental challenges brought on by climate change and urbanization.

“The Thomson Reuters is the perfect partner to help us bring to light poignant environmental issues from around the world to our audiences,” said Juan Devis, Chief Creative Officer, KCETLink Media Group.  “Their expert storytelling, global sensibility and journalistic integrity is helping us understand human resilience in the wake of our current environmental crisis, as well as the ways in which we adapt to the realities of climate change, both here in the United States and around the globe. This is one story, told in multiple locations, from different perspectives, and no other partner than the Thomson Reuters Foundation can help us articulate that any better.”

“This fantastic partnership with KCETLink will allow us to reach important new audiences. Reporting on the human impact of climate change has been core to our coverage for many years,” said Monique Villa, CEO of the Thomson Reuters Foundation. “We take viewers to the front lines to make the issues engaging and personal, and bring them to a wide global audience.”

Previously, the Thomson Reuters Foundation partnered with KCETLink in May of 2017 on the Link TV series TRUST DOCS, which takes viewers around the globe to explore under-reported stories about critical social issues through personal stories from individuals. The news magazine series utilizes short documentaries to translate headlines into human experiences and covers a range of issues including the effects of war, the fight for refugee rights, struggles to adjust to climate change, housing and land rights, global mental health, changing gender identities and more. The series premiered nationwide on Link TV, available to all subscribers of Dish Network (channel 9410) and DirecTV (channel 375). The program is also available for streaming at [ http://www.linktv.org/trustdocs ]LinkTV.org/trustdocs and on Link TV's Apple TV and Roku apps.

EARTH FOCUS is a weekly half-hour program that is the longest-running environmental series on U.S. television. In production since 2006, the series features in-depth reports on key issues such as endangered species, climate change, environmental health and sustainable practices.
