ABOUT LOST L.A.
Created in partnership with the University of Southern California Libraries, LOST L.A. is based on KCET’s “L.A. as Subject” web series written by L.A. historian Nathan Masters. A digital destination for related content featured at kcet.org/LostLA hosts web-exclusive content and the most popular “L.A. as Subject” stories, allowing readers and viewe
viewers to rediscover the history of Los Angeles through written and video storytelling. The three-part television series, which Masters hosts, explores stories from the city's past that have been lost to folklore, including wildlife; the Elysian Hills before Dodger Stadium's construction; and the metropolis' now defunct tunnels, canals and hills. A variety of emerging regional filmmakers were selected to direct the films utilizing techniques that ranged from rotoscoping to cinema verité, in order to bring the primary sources of L.A. history to the screen in surprising new ways.
