KCETLink Names Juan Devis as Vice President, Arts and Culture Programming

BURBANK, CA - May 21, 2013 -KCETLink announced today that Juan Devis has been promoted to Vice President, Arts and Culture Programming, effective immediately. He reports to Mary Mazur, Chief Operating Officer for KCETLink.

Mr. Devis, previously Director of Production and Program Development, is the innovator and producer behind several award-winning transmedia productions at KCETLink that capture the artistic and cultural temperament of the region.  Some of those include Artbound, a groundbreaking series that migrates content from online to broadcast and explores the arts across Southern and Central California; Departures, a celebrated online documentary series offering multimedia portraits of Los Angeles' diverse neighborhoods; and Live@theFord, a co-production with the Los Angeles County Arts Commission showcasing multi-cultural music and dance performances.

Mr. Devis' work has been recognized with numerous industry accolades, including an Emmy® nomination for Live@the Ford and as an Official Honoree in the arts category by the Webby Awards for Artbound.  In addition, he's secured various prestigious grants for his projects, such as a National Endowment for the Arts grant and a Cal Humanities grant, both in 2013.

Mr. Devis consistently engages with the region's creative community allowing KCETLink to be the media voice for initiatives that truly make an impact, including the multi-faceted NELA Riverfront Collaborative that is working to transform the Los Angeles River into a "riverfront district." He is a frequent lecturer on arts programming in public media--most recently at Digital Hollywood where he was a panelist, and debuted the new KCETLink cultural series, Citywalk.

ABOUT JUAN DEVIS
Juan Devis is an award-winning producer, filmmaker and artist, whose work crosses multiple platforms--video, film, interactive media and gaming. Regardless of the medium his work is often produced collaboratively allowing for a greater exchange of ideas in the production of media and art. With the merger of KCET and Link Media to form KCETLink, Mr. Devis was elevated to vice president in charge of arts and culture programming for the new organization. For more than a decade, Mr. Devis has worked with a number of non-profit organizations and media arts institutions in Los Angeles serving as producer, director, educator and board member.

Mr. Devis develops strategic partnerships with funders, organizations and independent production houses to ensure a new slate of content, securing funds and maintaining an editorial vision and cohesiveness for the station's new mission. Mr. Devis has also charted the stations' multi-award-winning arts and culture initiative, Artbound, consisting of a television series, an online networked cultural hub and the creation programmatic partnerships with cultural institutions in Los Angeles.  In addition, Mr. Devis has spearheaded a new slate of series that are either in production or development, some of those include the Japan Prize Winner, Departures, and the Emmy® nominated Live@the Ford, among others.
