Burbank, Calif. – Apr. 19, 2018 – KCETLink, a leading national independent nonprofit public broadcast and digital network, today announced that it has received a $20,000 grant from California Humanities as one of its California Documentary Project grant awardees. This grant will be used to support the tenth season of arts and culture series ARTBOUND, premiering spring 2019. The series examines the lives, works and creative processes of arts and culture innovators making an impact in Southern California and beyond.
The California Documentary Project (CDP) is a competitive grant program of California Humanities. CDP grants are awarded to support film, audio, and interactive media projects that add a new layer to a complex and growing portrait of California. Since 2003, California Humanities has awarded more than $5 million in research and development, production, and public engagement grant awards to media makers who go deep and reach broadly to capture California in all its complexity.
“We are pleased to be among the recipients of this grant from California Humanities,” said Juan Devis, Chief Creative Officer. “This grant supports KCET as we continue providing freely accessible, high quality programs and services throughout the Southern California region.”
“California Humanities is proud to support the California Documentary Project which helps the people of California connect with one another through stories of our past, present and future,” said Julie Fry, President and CEO of California Humanities. “Projects such as ARTBOUND show that the humanities provide relevant, powerful, meaningful ways to connect and help us better understand the human condition.”
As an independent, non-profit state partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities, California Humanities plays a critical role across the state in producing, funding, and supporting cultural experiences and events. For more information on California Humanities, please visit www.calhum.org.
