KCETLink's Award-Winning Arts and Culture Series, 'Artbound' Receives $20,000 Grant from Cal Humanities

BURBANK, CALIF. - April 4, 2013 -

KCETLink is pleased to announce its award-winning, transmedia arts and culture

journalism series, Artbound, has received a $20,000

among 15 projects selected for this competitive grant program sponsored by Cal Humanities. Cal Humanities encourages

film and radio documentarians to explore issues and stories of critical

importance to California.

"This

round was one of the strongest and most competitive I've seen over the past six

years," said John Lightfoot, Program Officer of the California Documentary

Project. "The 15 projects that were selected for funding represent an

extraordinarily rich and diverse portrait of California."

Juan Devis, Executive Producer of the series and Vice

President of Arts and Culture Programming, KCETLink, added, "We're very honored

to be chosen among so many other extraordianary projects. This grant will allow

Artbound to continue to explore and

showcase some of the most creative and imaginative voices in Southern

California."

The

California Documentary Project (CDP) grants support documentary film, new

media, and radio productions at the research and development, production, and

public engagement stages. The intent of the CDP is to increase access to,

understanding of, and awareness of the public humanities through the support of

documentary media productions.

KCETLink is the new national

independent public transmedia organization formed by the merger between KCET

and Link Media.  A viewer-supported

501(c)(3) organization, its content is distributed nationally via satellite on

DirecTV and DISH, in Southern and Central California via broadcast, as well as

through various digital delivery systems. KCET and Link TV are services of

The California Documentary Project

(CDP) is a competitive grants program that supports documentary film, radio,

and new media productions that enhance our understanding of California and its

cultures, peoples, and histories. Projects must use the humanities to provide

context, depth, and perspective and be suitable for California and national

audiences through broadcast and/or distribution. Since 2003, we have awarded

over $3 million to projects that document the California experience and explore

issues of significance to Californians. CDP grants support projects at the

research and development, production, and public engagement stages.
