BURBANK, CA  - Oct. 9,2014 - SOCAL CONNECTED, KCET's Emmy® and Peabody® Award-winning series looks at key propositions on the upcoming ballot with reports explaining each and analysis from distinguished experts. Anchored by Val Zavala, this 2014 election special will focus on Propositions 1 (Bonds for Water Supply), 45 (Healthcare Insurance Rates), 46 (Medical Safety and Lawsuits) and 47 (Reducing Criminal Penalties).SOCAL CONNECTED's guest analysts are Frank Gilliam, dean of UCLA Luskin School of Public Affairs; Fernando Guerra, director of the Thomas and Dorothy Leavey Center for the Study of Los Angeles at Loyola Marymount University; Seema Mehta, political writer for theLos Angeles Times; and Jill Stewart, managing editor of the L.A. Weekly. This SOCAL CONNECTED special will give television viewers and online users a greater understanding of key propositions, including the sources of funding behind each proposition, enabling voters to make thoughtful and informed decisions on Nov. 4.
