Los Angeles - June 25,
2012 - KCET won 17 awards, with 16 going to the hard-hitting investigative news
series, SoCal Connected at the 54th
Annual Los Angeles Press Club Journalism Awards Sunday night. The series won
more awards than any other TV station -- including the prestigious LA Press
Club Public Service Award for exposing lavish spending at the Housing Authority
of Los Angeles, the billion-dollar agency that provides housing for LA's
poor.

The Los Angeles Press
Club Awards honor high-caliber journalism in traditional and emerging media
formats, with winners selected by press clubs around the country.  The Emmy® and Peabody-winning SoCal Connected also received awards for
the best Talk-Public Affairs show for the third year in a row.  In all, the station received 7 first place
awards, 6 second placements and 3 honorable mentions.

Executive Producer
Bret Marcus said, "This is a clear case of the little engine that could.
We are especially honored to win the Public Service Award for our investigative
reporting at a time when budget cutbacks have taken a toll on in-depth
journalism."
