Burbank, Calif. – Dec. 10, 2019 – KCET, Southern California's home for award-winning public media programming, announced today the premiere of four-part Scottish thriller series THE VICTIM as well as two more international dramas to debut in January that include French World War II series RESISTANCE and Austrian detective mystery VIENNA BLOOD. In THE VICTIM, which originally aired on the UK’s BBC One in April 2019, Kelly Macdonald (Boardwalk Empire, No Country for Old Men) plays Anna Dean who is accused of leaking her son's suspected murderer's identity online and conspiring to have him killed. Hard working family man Craig Myers is played by John Hannah (Four Weddings and a Funeral, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) who must try and prove his innocence. In an effort to bring audiences exciting new dramas from around the world, Southern California’s KCET will premiere THE VICTIM on Tues., Jan. 7 at 9 p.m. PT while RESISTANCE will join the lineup on Tues., Jan. 14 at 10 p.m. PT with VIENNA BLOOD debuting Thurs., Jan. 23 at 10 p.m. PT.
Based on true events, RESISTANCE (in French with English subtitles) is the story of a group of young French heroes fighting for freedom from German Nazi occupation in World War II and together they join forces to produce a newspaper. RESISTANCE is part of Walter Presents, a curated collection of award-winning international dramas hand-picked by Walter Iuzzolino, a TV connoisseur who has scoured the globe for compelling hits.
In VIENNA BLOOD, a student of Sigmund Freud and an Austrian detective team up to solve some of the most mysterious and deadly cases in early 1900s Vienna. Matthew Beard (The Imitation Game) and Juergen Maurer (Vorstadtweiber) star.
Episode descriptions from each of the four episodes from THE VICTIM will be telecast on KCET as follows (subject to change):
“Episode 1” – Tues., Jan. 7 at 9 p.m.
A grieving mother confronts the man accused online of being her son's killer.
“Episode 2” – Tues., Jan. 14 at 9 p.m.
Craig takes the stand as Anna tries to prove that he is Eddie J Turner.
“Episode 3” – Tues., Jan. 21 at 9 p.m.
Anna takes the stand as more clues about the identity of her son's killer come to light.
“Episode 4” – Tues., Jan. 28 at 9 p.m.
The jury reaches a verdict, and Anna and Craig have to face each other — and the truth.
